    New Tumblr URL, Avatar & Username

    I’ve moved away from my old blog.androidworkshop.com domain and have switched to tumblr.daught.me to match my portfolio site daught.me

    I managed to get all my content to forward from the old domain so I don’t lose search engine rank or break links to this blog. I used this .htaccess method via a web host I have access to.

    I have also decided to move away from my old NetworkShadow username for most social sites and use my real name Nathaniel.

    And finally, I have retired my trusty robot avatar in favor of my own face.

    Tumblr is cool: As we’re all aware by now, one of the worst environmental disasters in recorded history is underway in the Gulf. As helpless as you may feel, you can do something right now by donating to a Gulf protection group like Save Our Gulf, the National Audubon Society, or the Greater New Orleans Foundation. To get all of you involved this week, we’re replacing Tumblr’s usual ocean blue with a new heart-of-BP-executive black and letting you donate without leaving your Dashboard. Donating will also unlock the Limited Edition Black Dashboard as an account preference.

    Export your Tumblr blog to WordPress

    Or even Squarespace. I’ve been thinking of testing Squarespace soon for a new version of The Android Workshop, and this tool would allow me to move all my Tumblr posts too. I’m not sure yet though if I’d want to keep my Tumblr and integrate it with Squarespace, since I do love Tumblr. We’ll wait and see.

    Updating the Tumblr iPhone App

    I just realized that I wasn’t getting any updates for the Tumblr app Tumblrette that I had bought back before Tumblr bought it to make it the free official Tumblr iPhone app. Now I know why!

    Now that it’s under new owners it has been renamed to just “Tumblr” and also managed by the Tumblr company rather than the original developer. Because of this change updates are no-longer pushed out to owners of Tumblrette. To get the latest and greatest you must go download Tumblr from the App Store.

    I hope this helps other owners of Tumblrette who might be wondering about updates.
