1. “Kara” short film (game engine tech demo)

A good idea of what to expect from characters in video games in the coming years. Games are quickly catching-up with film CGI. Also checkout the behind the scenes video.

  2. practicallymarypoppins asked: Hello! This may seem a bit weird but I was wondering if you could help me at all, I am doing an art project in school on robots. I'm finding it quite hard to find pictures and other samples of robot art. Do you know of any sites, artists, or pictures I could use? I noticed you post some of that type of thing! I thought it was worth a shot!

Hello. You could try searching wallbase.cc for “Robot”. You might also try searching Flickr, I belong to a robot art group.

An artist I like David Lanham has done a few robots. I’ve also got a handful of robot illustrations on my website.

Make sure you credit anyone if you use their art.

Hope that helps. Thanks for the message!

  3. Robot Art (wallpaper)

Like it was made for me.

  4. A new rough “pen doodle” I did using SketchBook Pro on Mac with my Wacom tablet. Started the sketch way at the beginning of the year and pulled it out last night. It’s as finished as I think I want to make it.

This should be a prelude to what is to come from me in the near future… I had been neglecting to draw for too long and want to make it a regular thing again.

So far I really like SketchBook Pro on Mac. It’s definitely more drawing/painting friendly than Photoshop. I also like the ability to save in PSD format by default so Photoshop touch-ups and effects can easily be done with full layer support.

  5. Carl Erik Rinsch’s “The Gift” (via /Film) You’ll want to watch in HD full screen due to the stupid TV frame. It’s a very cool short, with sci-fi themes and an android.

  6. Laputa: Castle in the Sky Robot movie still (great wallpaper).

Maybe my favorite Hayao Miyazaki film.

  7. Robot in Teddy’s Skin - My latest finished Brushes (on iPhone) painting.

It’s been 90% finished since as far back as Nov, so I figured I’d put a few finishing touches on it today and get it up on my blog and site.

It’s slightly Invader Zim inspired with the robot in a plush animal suit.

  8. Where Androids Come From

My 2nd Layers painting/sketch on my iPhone. I’m using a paper texture as the background layer to give it a natural media look.

Inspired by Ghost in the Shell and other great sci-fi films etc with androids.

I may actually develop this further with more detail and full color later.

  9. I submitted my Steam Punk Robot painting to eatsleepdraw.com for the fun of it, and they just posted it. Due to their high volume of traffic it’s been getting some attention already.

  10. “Painter Robot” digital sketch: Done with Brushes (for iPhone). A quick sketch, the product of a slow afternoon at work yesterday.

  11. A cool illustration by a friend of mine.

    hobotix:

Here is my new mascot! sorta. This is what I was thinking of when I came up with the name Hobotix. Its a play off of “Hobo” and “Robotics.” Going to throw it in the empty space on the right.

  12. Painting Process Video: Steam Punk Robot Miner (see previous post for full quality painting)

Painted on my iPod Touch with Brushes and exported with the Brushes viewer.
